Cathleen Mathes
Cathleen Mathes, M.Ed., LSLS Cert. AVT, is the President & CEO of John Tracy Center in Los Angeles, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing family-centered audiology and education services to children who are deaf and hard of hearing and their families, locally and around the world.
Cathleen "Cat" has dedicated more than two decades to JTC's mission of empowering families of children with hearing loss. Since being appointed President & CEO in 2019, she has led JTC's expansion into a new facility, guided the organization through the COVID-19 pandemic without interruption to services, and deepened JTC's reach through strategic community partnerships.
She began her career at JTC in 2003 as a preschool teacher and parent-infant educator, later serving as Director of Education Services and Vice President of Programs before stepping into the President & CEO role. She is an active advocate in California's deaf and hard of hearing education policy landscape and brings that same commitment to the national stage as the incoming Board President of OPTION. She is committed to advancing the collective impact of listening and spoken language programs for children and families worldwide.
She holds a bachelor's degree from Boston College and a master's degree from the University of Southern California. She holds an Education Specialist teaching credential in Deaf and Hard of Hearing Education and is a certified Listening and Spoken Language Specialist Auditory-Verbal Therapist.
